Perched above Whanganui with sweeping views towards the river mouth, this family residence is thoughtfully oriented to embrace the panorama while preserving privacy for its occupants. The design features two distinct pavilion-style structures; one dedicated to communal living, the other for private family spaces with a central hub that flows effortlessly between them.

Celebrated in the 2024 NZIA Western Architecture Housing Awards, the House was praised by the judges as “a well‑planned functional home that provides flexibility and joy for the owners, their family and friends… The well‑crafted transition in the public form between the entry, living and flexible ‘garage’ achieves neo‑plastic spatial characteristics that meet the demands of family life. The well‑detailed lighthouse window draws northern light inside, cleverly celebrates the clients’ faith and offers a point of difference in the suburban development.”
